Before you even think about exams or applying to the GMC, there’s one crucial question you must answer—Is your PMQ (Primary Medical Qualification) acceptable for UK registration? 😬
This is Step 1 of our GMC Registration Series, and it’s where many IMGs get stuck. If you’re unsure, don’t worry—you’re not alone. Here’s what you need to know:
✅ Is your PMQ listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools?
⏱️ Did your training last at least 5,500 hours over 3 years?
🩺 Were there clinical rotations in both medicine & surgery?
🇪🇺 Graduated in the EEA? You might be covered—check the Relevant European Qualifications list.
🛑 Not listed? Don’t panic. Email GMC with your school’s details.
💬 So, did your degree make the cut? Were there any surprises or struggles while checking your PMQ? Let’s share and support each other—drop your experience or questions below 👇
